Room Parent

Dear Parents,

Moffett Elementary PTA is excited to welcome our students back for another exciting and memorable year. Our PTA strives to keep families engaged and informed throughout the year. We can’t do that without YOUR HELP. Each classroom is seeking 1-2 room parents to help our PTA and teachers. The position will involve a high level of creating and forwarding emails from the teacher and/or PTA to the classroom parents, so you should be very comfortable maintaining group email lists and checking your email on a regular basis. You are also responsible for attending or finding a representative to attend all General Association PTA Meetings. In addition, room parents help PTA by providing parent volunteers for the various activities throughout the school year, albeit virtual or in person.

The following responsibilities are expected from each class’s room parent:

  • Be an active member of the PTA. Basic PTA memberships are $10.

  • Assist the teacher as needed with projects and activities.

  • Have a comfort level with sending group emails, group texts (via approved school apps).

  • Attend the PTA Association Meetings throughout the school year.

  • Build friendly relationships among the parents within your classroom, making them feel welcome and help develop a “team effort” to foster communication.

  • Help collect donations for the various events during the year.

  • Recruit volunteers for PTA events (i.e. Jog a Thon, etc.) and programs (i.e. BFF, Art Masters, etc.)

  • Have a current TB Test on file with the nurse as well as proof of Covid vaccination or negative Covid test within 3 days of volunteering with students.

  • A flexible attitude as things may be changing and evolving throughout this school year.
